Reading Week @ Las Nubes, Information Session
Join us in the breathtaking landscapes of Costa Rica for an immersive Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change course on Natural History and Environmental Education with Leesa Fawcett. This course which runs during the Winter reading week (February 15-23, 2025), offers hands-on experiences in the rich biodiversity of tropical forests in the Las Nubes area. You’ll explore the interconnections between the environment and local communities while learning about key naturalists like Darwin, Alexander Skutch, and modern Costa Rican scholars.
In the field, you’ll closely observe and document mammals, amphibians, birds, plants, and insects in the Las Nubes region, the surrounding corridor, and its watershed. The goal of this course is to deepen your place-based eco-social knowledge and empower you to create critical environmental education initiatives and citizen science projects that benefit both human and non-human communities.
